HeapTool is a control panel device which lets you adjust the amount of memory that is allocated to the system heap when you start your Mac. It is useful for users who experience frequent, seemingly random crashes under System 6.
HeapTool is designed for care-free operation. Just drop it into the system folder, and it will expand your system heap the next time you reboot. The file "HeapTool-mw" is a MacWrite format document that describes the reasons why HeapTool is necessary and gives detailed information on the operation of the HeapTool control panel device. If you do not have MacWrite, you may open the file from another word processor by first launching the word processor, then selecting the document from the Open… dialog box.
HeapTool is shareware and costs $13.50 per copy. Send a US check or money order to the address below. Please indicate the product and version number you are registering, and specify your name and return address. Once you have registered, select the "I have paid" button in the help screen to disable the "Not Registered" message on HeapTool's startup icon.
